' Knight of Prato'(as for this one I don't know If the capetian heraldic was granted to the comune collectively or to a single family).Įdit: also badges were used as well, like adding badge from suzerain or city on his own arms, or the other way around. This one is the probably the most illustrative and graphic example but you have plenty others in Tuscany, Naples, Aegean area that display granted heraldic from suzerain's. But having this really would really make the heraldic part of the game more dynamic, and make it feels contemporary for late game. Some genoese also mixed their ancestral heraldic with byzantine symbols. This was a trend in Italy called 'padronanza', it started with german emperors granting eagles and then capetian angevins granted some of their own partisans/vassals to display elements of capetian heraldic. If possible also, this is more a late feature but nice to have, that a suzerain would allow a vassal to use elements of his own heraldic in vassal heraldic.

It must offer a suitable range of colours and iconography to accommodate all the major culture groups on the map. It must offer the common divisions and variations of the field, and allow heraldic charges to be placed over them. In a nutshell take the main branch and just add elements to 'break' it, like lambels, borders.etc, for side branches. It must be at least as convenient to use as Stellaris's flag designer (CK2 and EU4's CoA/flag designers need not apply). As much as complex as possible and possibility for both player as AI to make heraldic similar to french apanages.
